The Plateau Field \u2013 a perennial plant experience! If you\u2019ve passed across the old cherry orchard, you will find right next to the so called<\/g> \u2018Buchenschlucht\u2019 (the slope where the beech trees are) the perennial plateau which amazes through the seasons. Nowhere in our diverse gardens will you find such a wide variety of plants as here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The garden is spacious but structured in a simple way. You will find geometric bed forms; long, straight, circular and S-shaped beds that lie on a sloping terrain. You are welcome to stay here a bit longer, especially when the sun is just throwing its golden light on the landscape. A sitting area can be found on the right-hand side, hidden behind high bushes \u2013 here you can peek into the hilly area called \u2018The Arena\u2019 and perhaps even see the shoal of goldfish living their quiet lives in the deep-lying pond.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

In the springtime when the splendour of tulips and daffodils shrouds the whole plateau in a sea of colours, the leaves of the first shrubs are not far away. The bright horned violet varieties, as well as the colourful heads of the carnations come out noticeably early. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then, when the summer arrives, the large perennial giants rise like the cup plant, the perennial sunflower, the holy rope and the miscanthus which all give the garden a wonderful three-dimensional design that can be admired into the winter. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Overall, perennials grow on the plateau field, which are particularly good at dealing with tough soil. Some plants appreciate this, for example our roses, which become so strong as hardly any other in the gardens. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You will find on the left side of the area a very young plantation \u2013 the evergreen rhododendron shrubs, which grow especially in the shade and therefore are at an advantage next to the tall beech trees. When they reach their main flowering time in May \/ June, you should definitely take a look!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

An insider tip that is worth mentioning is the small path at the bottom of the garden, which leads in snaking lines to the arena. Just past the herd of Skudde who live in the adjacent valley, you can now explore the area of The Arena with its wild charm, which holds many surprises in store for you.
