It is rare to hear such exclamations of astonishment as are often heard from guests when they first walk up the gentle hill to the Waldsee plateau and look down on the lake. From Oh’s<\/g> and Ah’s to \u2018incredible\u2019 or \u2018beautiful\u2019. I once also heard just a surprised laugh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The well-maintained complex has something natural, expansive and at the same time enchanting. There are two fountains; one is small and the other is 10-meters high. They both trigger excitement and spray a gentle drizzle when its<\/g> windy. On top of the plateau and around the lake there are many inviting benches. At the bottom are the terraces with countless rose petals, dark sage and catmint tucked in between the taller grasses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The terraces frame the lake in many ways \u2013 behind the lake, a pine forest provides a protective end, in between the weeping willow with its waterfall-like foliage. Under the pasture, which bows its hanging branches towards lake, you can also settle on the benches. Here you are completely surrounded by the forces of nature, you can feel protected and uplifted. Here you can listen to the sound of the fountain, the chirping of birds, inhale the smell with the mixture of resinous pines, flowers and earth, feeling the wind and the sun. In the lake the fish frolic \u2013 sturgeons are indeed a rare sight but goldfish can often be seen at the waters edge. Pond skaters can also be observed. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

In the wintertime you can admire the structure and the variety of terraces, which are elaborately built of fieldstone with sandstone staircases. In the spring everything is colourfully dotted with tulips and daffodils. In summer the grasses sway and the powerful shrubs bloom. The moss phlox begins to grow over the edge of the wall and down at the lake you can find dragonflies behind the reeds. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Sounds from the pontoon were already heard on some mild summer evenings: ensembles and soloists have already performed here. The solitary violin even nestles itself into the surrounding nature, taking on the sound of the elements with a gentle vibration, reaching the slowly fading stars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Above the lake, a small \u2018Schattengarten\u2019 was created this year in the beautiful oak grove beds with plants in the shadows. This was built according to the information and experience of Beth Chatto, the English garden designer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seven wooden statues from the artist Waltraud Schroll look both stern and cheerful at the same time on the compositions of hostas, ferns, elven flowers, toad lilies and many other plants, between which the forest path meanders. From here you have a wonderful view of the lake and in the evening of the glowing sunset. The lamps along the paths and the lights under the fountains illuminate and immerse the park in a romantic light. When evening comes, you can still hear the voices of visitors, then the lake is quiet and peaceful as fog envelops them protectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
