Café am Michaelshof – the season has begun!
The Café am Michaelshof has reopened. Since the 9th of March we are open to all guests. As always, you can expect a wide selection of cakes, a varied ice cream assortment, coffee specialties, cold drinks and a savoury snack in between. Soon the garden season starts again: at this time it is especially nice to sit under the white umbrellas, surrounded by flowers, in the pleasant atmosphere of a real garden café. We look forward to your visit.

Parking in Sammatz – there is more space now.
For all of those who still anticipate scarce parking facilities and traffic-filled roads: we now have a larger parking lot available, comprising of many parking spaces. This is not the final location of the parking lot; it is a temporary solution. It is therefore not in line with our other design standards, but it will certainly prove very useful. You can find it immediately behind the playground and Arche-Hof.

Kunterbunt Playground
We have just renovated our playground in the late autumn; it is designed in a colourful way, just as the name suggests. A number of new toys, from the big railroad to the high slide and much more, are sure to bring joy to the hearts of all children. You often hear cheers of delight from the playground. In spring, everything will be completely finished. We’re still missing the small animal enclosure just behind the entrance. Guinea pigs, hamsters and others should soon be having a good time there. The happiness is certainly contagious for the hearts of all children.

Lawn in the campus garden
A sunbathing area redesigned with beech elements invites you to linger by the new houses and the pond. When it gets warm, it is an idyllic place to rest, play, relax.

House of Nature and Youth Hostel
Two new big buildings – the yellow house (officially named the House of Nature) and the blue house (our Youth Hostel) – blend harmoniously into the landscape. At the House of Nature the events program begins at the end of March with a variety of seminars on the subject of nature. Programs can be found in the café and shop, as well as on our new website. We would be pleased if many visitors attend the courses held by interesting foreign and local lecturers.
The blue house is our Youth Hostel for volunteers from all over the world, as well as for students and interns who want to work and study with us for a while. There is always a lively international life, where young people from all over the world meet.
Both houses are closed to the public. Naturally, the House of Nature is open to all participants of the courses. In summer, the life of the two houses certainly extends through the whole campus garden!

The Sammatz Waldgärtlein
Our Waldgärtlein, named after the English garden designer Beth Chatto, is located above the Waldsee and is worth a visit. On one side it is bordered by a strong red beech hedge. On the other side with an open view of the Waldsee. There are also nine of our large sculptures to see. An impressive ambience, especially when the special shade plants come to life again.

The tulips are coming! (And many early bloomers are already there.)
Our gardening season is getting in full swing: the first early bloomers already show their magnificent colours. As soon as it gets a little warmer, the Sammatz gardens will be in full bloom with ten thousands of tulips! A unique experience for all visitors from near and far.
