Major Press Coverage

• Surprise: An attentive Spiegel Online reader has discovered an article with travel tips for autumn, which begins with an enthusiastic recommendation of Michaelshof: “If you ask Elisabeth Frenz where the perfect place is to end the summer on the Elbe, the Hamburg native immediately has a tip ready: “At Michaelshof Sammatz, a meeting place in Wendland that is more of a village than a farm. I could spend days here – at any time of the year”. Two paragraphs tell of the place with such verve that one really feels like going there.

We are very happy about the great appreciation!

At the beginning of August there was an article in the HAZ (Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung) with the inviting title “The Michaelshof in Wendland is a paradise and costs no entrance fee”, which has inspired many people to visit us.

We know, of course, that Sammatz is imperfect at every turn and in need of improvement (therefore far from being a paradise). But we think that this refers to a certain atmosphere in nature and around the place, which also pleases us ourselves. If others experience this in a similar way – wonderful!

We’re online!

Whatsapp Message, Martin, Wednesday, 8:02: “We are online.” ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Done! The Michaelshof online shop is now there for you – from the website to the warehouse and shipping. A changing team has done a lot for this in the last months – many thanks to all of you! There is quite a bit of heart and soul and a few hours of work in it 😉

We ask you, dear customers, for committed purchases, of course, and also for feedback, suggestions for improvement and a little indulgence if there are any hitches at the beginning. It’s our turn!

By the way, there is a 10% discount on the first order – and those who subscribe to the newsletter will be kept up to date on special offers, new products etc.

And for all those who don’t know it yet: All profits from the shop go to support the Michaelshof Volunteering – the opportunity for young people from all over the world to learn in Sammatz, to gain experience, to take ideas with them – for an ecological, social and peaceful world! One more reason to go shopping right away!

Off to a new school year

Our small special school in the neighbouring village of Wietzetze is officially entering its second year – after opening in February 2020, this is now the first ‘real’ school year.

Every morning at a quarter to eight, children from our Peronnik child and youth welfare centre and the first “external” pupils arrive at the school, which is set up in a beautiful old farm house, and can look forward to lessons tailored to their needs.

Selma Lagerlöf School – named after the Nobel Prize winning author of ‘Nils Holgersson’, who was herself a teacher – is a special school for emotional & social development (in Germany: Förderbedarf E/S) and still accepts pupils.

Please contact us via schule@sammatz.de or by phone 05858/97067.

The Sammatz goats are having babies right now

• Stop by and enjoy the wonderful sight of the little ones. The kids jump lively through the stable and climb goat style on everything that comes in their way. For example the mummy …  🙃

The Thuringian Forest Goats are an old breed of domestic animals, which is on the Red List of the GEH (Society for the Preservation of Old and Endangered Domestic Animal Breeds). At the open stables of our Arche-Farm you can get very close to them.

As a “real” farm with milk processing we are also an adventure farm for young and old, because humans and animals have a long common history and should know and like each other well. There must be a reason why your heart can so open up when you just watch our farm animals living their lives.

With a lot of respect for the great animals we still have a lot of things to do together!

Roses in full bloom

– every instant anew they enchant us with their abundance, their colours and scents. These days wandering through the Sammatz Gardens is like wading through a sea of flowers and roses.

The rose touches the human soul in a special way – for instance when it is ‘worth a thousand words’ whenever a lover hands it over to the loved one. The roses, too, which radiate their colours in the gardens now tell us more than we’d be able to express verbally.

A special time of the year – visit us, look and smell for yourselves! (-;

What’s next?

• Until further notice events are still cancelled. However provisional bookings are possible any time.

It depends on the future regulations issued by the government of Lower Saxony whether seminars and other events can take place again.

We will promptly inform you of any changes and will then tell you how we shall proceed with our seminars in the House of Nature, our experience days at Michaelshof and the concerts at the Waldsee.

Important: You’re welcome to book any future event. We will treat your booking as provisional. In case the event will not take place your payment will be returned immediately.

Stay healthy!
