Visit
Dear visitors!
Welcome to Michaelshof! We are pleased that you are interested in our place. Even more so when you come to visit and get to know Sammatz in the ‘real world’. We can assure you that it’s much more beautiful in reality than it is here on the internet …
Nature needs a space in which it can live and thrive.
When visiting
we kindly ask our visitors to respect a few ‘no-goes’.
Smoking is forbidden on the whole property.
Dogs are welcome – smokers also of course, only their cigarettes are not ☺ – but should be kept on a leash, please.
Trash belongs either in the bin or in your jacket pocket – not on the beautiful paths or in the flower beds.
You can walk on the lawn but not on the flower beds – only gardeners and helpers are allowed to do that! Please also respect the few places in the gardens with a “private” sign – these are also corners that are only accessible to employees.
Cycling is prohibited everywhere on site. There are bike racks at the café and on the farm.
Please do not park in front of the café. There is parking in the village centre and a large car park just 2 or 3 minutes walk from the café or the farm. Please make use of it! Our neighbours are happy if you do not park on their property either – that’s why we built the parking lot. The narrow village street must – in front of the café and everywhere – remain free, even for buses, tractors and trucks, which always have to pass through.
Having picnics is not allowed across the entire property. Of course, you can enjoy sandwiches, take-away coffee etc. on the benches, while going for a walk or anywhere else.
… and now the many things that await!
Of course, there is the nature in Sammatz – take your time, pay attention to what it has to say. There is an endless amount of exciting things to experience that are much more exciting than television or the internet.
What difference does the most beautiful nature make when you urgently need to go to the bathroom? Toilets can be found in the café and its surroundings. Ask staff if you do not know where to find the nearest toilet.
Also visit our farm shop, located directly between the animal stables. There are also the products from Michaelshof – teas, cosmetics, breads, meats, cheeses and other dairy products, usually easily recognisable by the colourful logo. You may have tasted some of it in the café but in the farm shop you can take it home. With every purchase you are supporting the Sammatz project and the maintenance of the gardens and the farm. Thank you!
Our opening hours change a few times a year as the days get longer or shorter. Even on public holidays, the café and farm shop sometimes have different opening times. Please note that the café has a few weeks winter break. If you are unsure, check the website so you do not end up standing and waiting in front of locked doors with a growling stomach…
There are two rustic guys in Sammatz who are especially looking forward to seeing you. These are the ‘donation trees’ located on the farm and behind the café. They always have an appetite – also because they do not swallow donations for themselves, but for the preservation of the gardens and the farm! Do not disappoint the two if you should pass them by. ☺ If you want to help in a bigger way, you will find all the information you need here on our website under Projects and Support.Last but not least: at the playground there is childcare on certain dates. The children are happy and the adults can spend a little bit of time away from the kids. … Please read the news to see when we offer childcare.
Even though we endeavour to ensure that everything operates smoothly and is beautiful, we in Sammatz, of course, are not completely perfect, and sometimes criticism is inevitable. Our motto is ‘if it was good, it says it all. If it was bad, tell us. ‘ For example, by e-mail. We are happy to correct everything that is not as we would like it, and of course we welcome suggestions of any kind.
